Beginning Hand Building: 6 session Ceramics Class for Adults & Teens ages 16+*
Join me in my studio for a fun, relaxed and welcoming place to get your hands muddy and make some lovely gifts for the holidays!
Time: 10:00 am - 12:30 pm Tuesdays & Thursdays:
TH 11/21, TU 11/26, TU 12/3, TH 12/5, TU 12/10, TH 12/12
We'll cover the basic techniques of hand-building, teaching your hands to "see" through pinching, coiling, slab rolling, carving, soft and hard slab construction. Then, as your projects begin to take shape, you'll learn to enliven them with a variety of surface treatments including texturing, painting with colored liquefied clays (slips), making marks through the slip (sgraffito), inlaying slip into carved lines (mishima), wax resist, and glazing.
Each class will begin with a sample project demonstration - candleholders, figurines, dessert plates, luminaries... You’ll have the option of either making the sample project, or creating your own design using the techniques demonstrated, your imagination is the limit!
Although this is a beginning level class, it's appropriate for all levels of experience, more advanced students will receive technical assistance and feedback as desired.
A maximum of 4 students per class allows for plenty of personal attention

Students sign up for a 6 session term of 2.5 hour classes at $290.00 / term + materials + tools if needed. + $45.00 materials fee which includes one 25 lb. bag of clay, slips, glazes and firings + $22.00 for basic tools kit (I have many specialized tools in the studio you are welcome to use but you’ll also need your own basic set)
Class, Materials and Tools** fees are due in full at registration.
Cancellation policy: Full refund for cancellations up to 30 days prior to start of class. 50% 14 - 29 days prior to start of class, no refunds after 14 days prior to start of class, I custom order all supplies (clay, glazes, underglaze, tools...) at that time.
Classes will run with a minimum of 3 students
*Special consideration may be given to responsible, mature, motivated individuals ages 10 - 15 taking class with a parent or guardian - contact me to discuss :)
**Tools fee only applies if you need new tools, feel free to bring your own if you've got them.
