No other method of hand building reflects the subtlety of the maker's touch with more immediacy than creating forms with soft slabs. In this class, we'll explore the ceramic process introducing more complex ways of hand building with soft slabs. We will spend time on allowing you to develop your own ideas 3 dimensionally. The projects will be more open ended and up to you to interpret and respond to each specific project. This class is your opportunity to take the technical skills you have developed thus far and begin to use them to create your own unique body of work.
COURSE OBJECTIVES: Continue to develop a thorough understanding of the capabilities of soft slabs. Continue to develop an individual aesthetic with clay. Push yourself and the material. Above all, have fun!
Recommended tools: Pottery Tool Kit, Towel, Small Bucket, Large Plastic Garbage Bags, Brushes, Large Sponge, Small Sponge, Spray Bottle, Metal Fork, Sureform tool, Pony Roller.
